The chair of the Anglophone South District Education Council rejects Portland-Simond’s MLA Trevor Holder’s position on Policy 409 and the possible fate of inner city schools in Saint John and potential school closures.
Rob Fowler contends lots of consultation with stakeholders was conducted on this.
He says they met with the Y, BCAPI, Plan SJ, Play SJ, the City Manger’s office, Living Saint John and anyone who wants to meet with them adding all community groups are represented at the community meetings they have had so far.
Any recommendation that the DEC could eventually vote on next Spring will go to the Minister of Education for a final decision and any activity that follows would be 4 to 5 years after that.
He says no inner city schools are closing next June.
Fowler tells CHSJ News he totally rejects Mr. Holder’s position on this.
