The Speaker of the Legislature, Chris Collins told M-L-A’s he was disappointed in the tone of Question Period. His comments followed a heated exchange between Energy Minister Rick Doucet and Conservative energy critic Jake Stewart over the government’s settlement with Enbridge Gas.
Stewart questioned what Doucet and the Liberal government are getting out of the deal and alluded to investigations. He also said Doucet should be ashamed of himself.
Doucet responded by calling Stewart “belligerant”, saying he accused government officials of lying which is pretty despicable and unparliamentary.
Doucet says there are provisions in the settlement with Enbridge to prevent price shocks from happening and the deal won’t cost taxpayers a dime.
