In the five years from 2010 to 2015, there has been a 26 per cent increase in the number of seniors in New Brunswick who have been injured falling.
Horizon Health reports falls by people of all ages cost the provncial healthcare system $248 million each year and is the largest single factor in the total cost of injuries.
Falls among seniors amount to about 85 per cent of injury related hospitalizations in the province.
