The Saint John police’s fraud unit is investigating after a man tried to open up a bank account at the CIBC on Main Street West using false identification.
The man was also found to have a number of pieces of apparently forged documents on him. Police say the 34-year-old was arrested and that he’s been involved in at least one other fraud in the city.
In a separate incident over the weekend, a 20-year-old man was arrested for kicking a police officer. Police responded to a home on Paddock Street where a drunk man had cut himself and wasn’t complying with paramedics.
Police tried to help the paramedics and that’s when the officer was assaulted.
In another separate weekend incident, Saint John police officers on patrol on Waterloo Street over the weekend were flagged down by a man who pointed out a man he says had tried to smash the windows of his van while his family was inside.
The man was approached by officers who tried to talk to him, but he wouldn’t and challenged the officers to a fight.
Police then arrested the 37-year-old man.
