A meeting between the provinces and the federal government failed to reach an agreement on healthcare funding for the next 10 years.
Federal Health Minister Jane Philpott was optimistic the provinces would accept the offer but Federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau says it didn’t work out and what happens now is up in the air.
Provincial Finance Minister Cathy Rogers says New Brunswick supports the offer of the federal government to add an additional $26 billion to federal health spending over the next 10 years, including $15 billion through the Canada Health Transfer and $11 billion for home care and mental health.
She adds the province wants to come to a separate bilateral agreement with the Trudeau Government.
