Dominic Cardy is resigning as leader of the New Democratic Party of New Brunswick.
In a statement released yesterday, he leveled criticism at what he described as a tiny minority of well-connected members refusing to accept the will of the party membership.
Cardy similarly blasted some party members for believed change and openness had had their time, accusing them of wanting to return to a party with true believers, ideological tests, and moral victories.
He accused some members of the party of using language from the 1930s in support of policies from the 1970s.
Cardy said he could not be the leader of a party that would continue to approach voters with policies that were outdated, bad, and discredited.
He ended his letter by thanking everyone in his team , and all those who voted NDP under his leadership.
Cardy said he would be continuing to fight for his ideals, just in different ways.
