One of our local nursing homes is getting a big boost from the provincial government.
Premier Brian Gallant announcing $3.5 million dollars over the next five years will be used for renovations and upgrades at the Lincourt Manor nursing home in St. Stephen.
Premier Gallant greeted residents and nurses at Lincourt ahead of the announcement. He told the crowd, “It will help the quality of care and the quality of life of the residents here. It will help the staff be able to provide the best care possible, and it will also ensure that we create jobs and stimulate the economy with this infrastructure investment.”
Dave MacLean with the Department of Social Development says each nursing home in the province was assessed independently, and are being allotted funding depending on what the needs are at each home.
Gallant explained further, “The department [of Social Development] would go and do an analysis of all of the nursing homes to see what are the needs, not only from a demographic point of view, but also from an infrastructure point of view. So they would then determine in each nursing home what type of work would be the most needed, and what type of work would then be made within the plan.”
Specific renovation projects and upgrades at Lincourt Manor will be decided throughout the next five years.
