The Higgs government says it wants to responsibly develop the province’s natural resources but the New Brunswick Anti-Shale Gas Alliance is wondering what that really means.
Spokesperson Jim Emberger hopes it doesn’t mean making compromises on health and climate change.
“Compromise amongst parties is a good thing but you can’t compromise with the laws of physics which say that we can’t add any new fossil fuels to the mixture we’ve got or we can kiss ourselves goodbye.”
Emberger notes how Premier Blaine Higgs said he intends to meet with Corridor Resources but also with other groups who have an interest in shale gas.
At this stage, he thinks Higgs will keep an open mind about fracking.
