Another successful Ritchie’s food drive is in the books thanks to many donations of food and money over 10 days.
The event wrapped up Saturday with another trailer to Romero House full of food and supplies for the more than 80,000 meals they serve every year.
Executive Director Evelyn McNulty tells CHSJ News this food drive gives the majority of the staples they need for the year.
“It allows us to breathe a little easy, we can put our focus on keeping the lights on and keeping the equipment working without having to worry so much about having food in the building,” McNulty said.
McNulty finds the need is growing and they are on track to serve 82,000 meals by the end of the year.
“I’m just really appreciative of Ritchie’s, the radio stations, the Lions club. There are so many hands that touch the food drive behind the scenes. It’s a community effort and all those people coming together is what makes it happen.” McNulty says.
