From the Cornerstone to the Rockland. Two Saint John churches have new life as wedding and party venues.
The owners of Natasha’s Wedding and Events bought the old Cornerstone Baptist Church last year and plan to buy the former Holy Trinity parish on Rockland road which closed last year. The Cornerstone was renovated and has bookings this year, next year and into 2021.
Natasha Tobias-Cooper tells us it all came about because they are desperate for storage and living space.
“The Holy Trinity basement is absolutely beautiful, fully finished where we can store everything in there. The bonus to it is that it has a rectory, a beautiful Victorian home.” Tobias-Cooper said.
Tobias-Cooper says once they get approval through the city, all that is required to prepare the old Holy Trinity parish for hosting events is removing the pews and the carpet, changing the lighting and adding some paint.
She says they have already received deposits for weddings at the Rockland and they don’t even own it yet.
