A former Saint John police forensics officer is testifying at the Dennis Oland second-degree murder trial Tuesday.
Const. David MacDonald is one of the officers sent to Oland’s home on July 14, 2011, to execute a search warrant.
MacDonald told the court about being in the master bedroom of the home on Gondola Point Road in Rothesay and finding several items in a closet, including a brown sports jacket, seven dress shirts, a blue suit and jacket and eight pairs of shoes.
He described how he processed the brown jacket using halogen lighting to easier identify any stains which may be found on it.
MacDonald says he found three small spots of dark staining which he circled with a white grease pen and which he would’ve tested for presumptive blood and DNA.
