It looks like 2018 was a banner year for the Saint John Airport with a record-setting number of passengers, 278,217 going through the gates.
President and CEO Derrick Stanford say it was great to get that news.
Taking a moment to send out a great big THANK YOU to all our passengers. You've helped us set a new All-Time Passenger Record! ❤️
We had 282,217 passengers #flyysj in 2018—a 7% increase over 2017 and our second consecutive record-breaking year in passenger traffic results. 🎆 pic.twitter.com/dcSxJ9tx2n— Saint John Airport (@YourSJAirport) January 16, 2019
“Traffic volume was up nicely due to having a full year of Porter Service out of YSJ and an increase in load for passengers for Air Canada’ stated Stanford.
YSJ is always on the lookout for getting more carriers to serve its passengers says Stanford,
“We’ve been underserved for quite some time and we do have a full-time business development team who meets with perspective airlines on a regular basis.”
He says there is also a major construction project slated for 2019 for the airport.
“Installing centre line high intensity LED lighting down the centre and along the sides and adding runway end safety areas, stated Stanford.
