A peewee hockey team from the Valley is well on their way to win $100,000 in the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup, a Canada-wide competition all about giving back to the community.
Hockey teams from coast to coast submitted videos of their good deeds for a chance to win big.
For their submission, the KV Devils gathered food and cash donations for a breakfast program at a nearby school.
Their video has over 90,000 views, putting them in the top three.
Coach Dave Piercy says he and the team have been overwhelmed by the support.
“Everybody’s been offering support, businesses have been putting it up on their signs. I just can’t say enough how exciting it is for all of us,” he said.
The team will donate their prize money to funding breakfast programs at seven high priority schools in the region.
Officials will announce the winner on March 2.
