When it comes to teaching, the classroom isn’t what it was twenty years ago.
That according to the President of the New Brunswick Teachers Association.
George Daley says teachers have violence in the classroom that needs to be dealt with.
Some of it is a result of special needs students, while others aren’t, and this is affecting teachers on a daily basis.
He says for five years now, he has been raising his concerns around the inclusive education policy to the province.
“We’ve highlighted our concerns. The areas we need to be fixed. The areas were we need more resources and were we need more training. We simply need more people in the system to help us deal with what we are dealing with” Daley says.
Daley says he hears a lot of concerns from teachers who feel because of the mix of students in the classroom that there is no possible way they can meet all of the demands every single day.
This causes them to go home defeated and that will wear on them after awhile.
