The Federal Finance Minister was recently in Saint John and had some advice for an audience on how to boost the fortunes of Atlantic Canada.
Bill Morneau suggested immigration is one of the ways the region will flourish.
“How do we make sure that we make an attractive place for new Canadians to come and to build their lives and to make this place even more successful and that is a critically important issue we need to think about,” stated Morneau.
Morneau was also asked about New Brunswick problems and he admitted a lot of eyes across the country are on us
“In a sense in Canada New Brunswick is a sort of Canary in a Coalmine because we do have a demographic challenge, we have an ageing population, it is a real challenge.”
Morneau was also asked if he was concerned about Canada slipping back into recession.
He admitted it is something they are closely watching for.
