A Black’s Harbour couple returning home on Sunday from Saint John had quite the scare when they went under a railroad overpass on Highway One in West Saint John.
Sandy Shaw says she and her husband watched as three young men walked across the train bridge and suddenly one picked up a large rock.
“His arm went up over his head, he kept walking he never even looked he just threw a rock, it hit in front of our bumper and made a big banging noise under the truck”, stated Shaw.
She says they pulled off the road at the next exit and raced up to the area near the bridge and saw all three walking towards them and got a good look.
They called 9-1-1 and Shaw says the operator seemed more concerned about any damage to their vehicle than dispatching a cruiser to catch the person who threw the softball sized rock onto traffic.
Shaw says when they posted the incident on social media it had a huge response.
“Over 300 people were joining in on the conversation and I was really surprised to see this has happened before in the same spot”, Shaw stated.
She is suggesting netting or caging should be put up to stop this before someone gets killed.
