April is an excellent month to watch the night sky, according to local astronomer Chris Curwin.
You can see three planets in the eastern sky before 6:30 AM, bright Venus, to its right Jupiter and Saturn in between.
Mars is also visible to the right of Orion’s belt and you don’t need to own a telescope to check these out according to Curwin.
“You have to be comfortable that you are sitting outside for a few hours at a time, your body will get a bit colder because you are not moving around, the good thing about binoculars is they are portable if you like to look at the sky and the other thing is they are fairly cheap,” stated Curwin.
“Only move up to a telescope if you find astronomy is something you are really interested in,” advised Curwin.
