There is a special weather statement in effect. Wintry precipitation is expected, starting Sunday night and into Tuesday.
Northern New Brunswick can expect snow and ice pellets Sunday night, turning to rain and freezing rain on Monday morning. Rain is likely to persist all day, then changing to snow on Monday night.
Southern NB will see rain starting Sunday night, with a chance of snow Monday night as the system moves away.
Environment Canada meteorologist Brian Crenna says they might be issuing a freezing rain warning later in the day, if levels are predicted to be high.
Crenna says rain events in April aren’t unusual, but this one will bring lots of water.
“So, it’s not unusual, but this is a fairly good amount of rain. It’s probably looking at 20 to 40 millimetres for many areas,” he said.
There is also the possibility of 10 centimetres or more of snow for northernmost regions of New Brunswick. Rainfall warnings have been issued for parts of central and northeastern New Brunswick.
Precipitation will taper off over all areas throughout the day on Tuesday.
