The issue of the $12 million loss at Cannabis NB over its first six months of operation was front and centre in the Legislature on Wednesday morning.
People’s Alliance Leader Kris Austin grilled Premier Blaine Higgs on the matter.
“With million of dollars already lost and taxpayers continuing to subsidize the sale of marijuana, I will ask the Premier will he do the right thing that the Liberal government failed to do and finally privatize Cannabis NB,” Austin stated.
Premier Higgs said “I will be looking forward to working with my colleagues to define what the right solution could be and I want to assure the leader of the People’s Alliance that would indeed and could indeed include privatization.”
Austin then took a swipe at the Liberal party.
“Well Mr. Speaker I can tell you thanks to the previous Liberal governments Cannabis NB boondoggle one individual who is not losing money is Johnny Puff Puff on the street corner, ” a veiled reference to drug dealers.
