A Drug Drop-Off Program is being offered to Saint John area residents this weekend in recognition of Community Drug Drop-Off Day.
It will be a safe, simple, and anonymous method of getting rid of unwanted and unused medications.
The free drop-off will take place at Harbour Station’s parking lot on Saturday, from 11 to 2 pm. Authorized personnel from Horizon Health will be on scene to take items.
People can drop off medication of any kind, including old prescriptions, over the counter medications, lotions, vitamins, and even pet medications.

Horizon Health says people can simply drive, or walk through the parking lot and drop off the items.
Proper disposal of medications helps decrease prescription drug abuse, prevents accidental overdose or poisoning, and reduces environmental issues caused by improper disposal.
Those participating in the program will also have their name entered for a chance to win a prize.
More information about the program can be found by calling St. Joseph’s Community Health Centre at 506-632-5537.
The Drug Drop-Off Program is a partnership between St. Joseph’s, the Saint John City Police, The Fundy Wellness Network and Government of New Brunswick/Department of Social Development.
