New Brunswick now has the highest jobless rate in the Maritimes, according to Statistics Canada.
The provincial unemployment rate climbed slightly to eight per cent in April from 7.9 per cent in March.
Stats Canada says the province lost 6,400 full-time jobs but gained 2,500 part-time jobs.
The unemployment rates in the two largest cities also climbed.
Moncton and Saint John each had a jobless figure of 5.9 per cent.
The national rate was slightly lower in April at 5.7 per cent.
Stats Canada says employment rose by 107,000 in April, with notable gains in part-time work for youth.
