Karen Ludwig is on her way to Washington D.C. to talk trade.
The MP for Southwest New Brunswick, along with members of the House of Commons Standing Committee on International Trade, are meeting with US officials to discuss the tariffs on aluminum and steel this week.
Those members include MP Terry Sheehan from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Saskatchewan MP Randy Hoback, and MP Peter Fonseca from Mississauga, Ontario.
The group will meet with members of the Congressional Steel Caucus, the Aluminum Caucus, the Senate Finance Subcommittee on International trade, and the Northern Caucus.
Ludwig says she is looking forward to having productive discussions with elected officials in order to help remove trade barriers between the two nations.
“Canada and the United States share a special relationship, and it is extremely important to both of our nations’ continued economic prosperity and our shared national security.”
The goal of the trip is to help promote stronger trade relations with the US, as well as raise Canadians’ concerns about the tariffs on steel and aluminum.
To date, the International Trade Committee has studied fourteen international trade deals in order to grow Canada’s economy.
