The Salvation Army came to the rescue during flooding in the southern part of the province to provide food for volunteers.
Louise Armstrong says they spent the first week taking their food truck to the various sandbagging operation centres.
” We went anywere from Grand Bay-Westfield to the KV, we took out out food truck and fed volunteers along with some military as well, stated Armstrong.
She says the menu included tea, coffee gatorade and for lunch there were tacs or beef and chicken fajitas with a salad, they wanted to make sure there was a good balanced nutritious meal for the volunteers who were working very hard.
Armstrong says they were happy to be there and the volunteers seemed to be pretty happy as well.
” Always a very very positive reaction, it’s a great place to be on the food truck, to be a part of recovery and to be a part of helping those who come to the window, they were always very appreciative,” stated Armstrong.
She says there were lots of volunteers on the truck but one day when they were short handed she had to recruit her own mother, who was glad to help out.
