Get ready to celebrate the 234th birthday for the City of Saint John on Saturday with lots of activities.
It is the first incorporated city in Canada and was done so by Royal Charter in the year 1785 before Confederation formed our country.
Starting at 10 am the Town Crier will read the Loyalist Proclamation in Market Square atrium and there will be a big cake cutting with Mayor Don Darling and other dignitaries on hand.
Members of the St. Mary’s Band will perform and the United Empire Loyalists’ Association will be dressed up in period garb to commemorate the Loyalist landings 236 years ago
Then at noon at the grounds of the Marco Polo Cruise Ship Terminal, the 3rd Field Artillery Regiment, The Loyal Company, will fire off a 21 gun salute to honour the day.
