One of the most unique camping locations in the Kampgrounds of America system in North America opened last Friday in Sussex.
The Sussex KOA, now owned by Don and Tina Monahan recently joined the Kampgrounds of America system. KOA includes more than 517 camping locations throughout North America.
The site originally opened as a drive-in theatre in the 60’s.
A campground soon followed, since movie patrons who didn’t want to drive home after the late movies began to bring their recreational vehicles and park overnight.
Many improvements have been made to the park over the years, and the campground now includes 344 campsites, two swimming pools, a kiddie pool and a splash pad.
There’s also a Jumping Pillow, weekend wagon rides, bingo and a variety of themed events and, of course, the 300-car Drive In Theater.
More information about the campground can be found online. You can also reserve your next camping trip spot at the Sussex KOA online.
