Another Trudeau cabinet minister who resigned and got the boot from the Liberal caucus has announced her intentions for October.
Jody Wilson-Raybould spoke with her supporters on Tuesday and said she is going to run as an independent in the next election.
Wilson-Raybould told reporters her stance on the SNC Lavalin matter has garned her a lot of support.
“I was consistently told by people young and old from all backgrounds that the events had inspired them, motivating them to get involved and above else do not be afraid to speak up,” said Wilson-Raybould.
Wilson-Raybould says people call politics a team sport and a blood sport but she doesn’t agree with that adage.
“I do believe in the importance of a strong team but I am not sure there has to be blood involved, and it is far too serious a business to call it a sport, afterall it is the lives of people and our future that is at stake,” stated Wilson-Raybould.
There had been speculation that she would be running under the Green party banner, but that was not the case when she made the announcement on Monday.
