The Canadian Taxpayers Federation says we are losing billions of dollars because of a lack of pipelines such as Energy East.
A display was set up in Saint John around nine on Thursday morning with two large barrels representing the price of foreign oil and Canadian oil.

CTF’s Franco Terrazzano says that the difference in price is costing us dearly.
“The pipeline deficit is costing Canadian taxpayers over six billion dollars since 2013 and that amount is climbing 3.6 million dollars every single day,”stated Terazzano.
The money we are losing on not having pipelines between 2013 and 2023 could mean a great deal for this province.
Terrazzano stated “Six new major hospitals based on the costs of the QE 2 re-development in Halifax, or fully fund 25,000 new teaching positions for ten years or even exempt all New Brunswick residents from paying federal taxes for two and a half years.”
Atlantic Director of CTF, Paige MacPherson said: “Trans Canada Corp. says Energy East would have pumped $297 million into the Saint John economy during construction and added $5 million for property taxes per year according to Mayor Don Darling.”
