The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) recently seized a large amount of cannabis at the Woodstock port of entry.
On May 26, two travelers from the United States were arrested at the border after uncovering two large bags containing 2.5 kilograms, or almost 5lbs of suspected cannabis inside their vehicle.
The two travelers were charged under the Cannabis Act for possession for the purpose of selling, and unlawful possession for importation.
The seizure was made with the assistance of drug detector dog Keo and her handler.
Although legal in Canada, the unauthorized movement of cannabis across international borders remains a serious criminal offense.
So far in 2019, CBSA officers in the Atlantic Region have made 72 seizures of cannabis.
