There was some collaboration suggested in the Legislature on Friday when Green party leader David Coon suggested heath care reform needed for the province can be done by all parties working together.
He put the question to Health Minister Ted Flemming.
“Mr. Speaker does the Health Minister see any merit in assembling an all party caucus on health care reform to help bring about the restructuring we so badly need so what may now seem politically impossible to him, becomes possible,”stated Coon.
Minister Ted Flemming was very cordial in his response.
“I thank him for what I believe to be a sincere offer of collaboration to work together to fix a common problem, so I am more than happy do that and I look forward to doing it” Flemming stated.
Coon then suggested even a further step and got a positive response with his exchange.
“Does the Minister see value in conferring with legislative representatives from across Atlantic Canada and a regional forum on health care. “I indeed do see value in that,” stated Flemming.
He added that Ottawa needs to be involved because not every province has the same health care issues and he cited New Brunswick’s ever-aging population as an example.
