There are more and more young people getting involved in farming in New Brunswick.
That is welcome news to the President of the Agricultural Alliance of New Brunswick, Christan Michaud.
“The realities aren’t always what it seems to be in books but there certainly is a renewed interest in getting back to the land and knowing where your food comes from,” stated Michaud.
“I’m in my 40’s the neighbour up the road is in his 30’s and there is a farmer in St. Mary’s he is in his late 20’s, seems like there is a new interest in farming,” Michaud Stated
He says it is the second year in a row that these young farmers have had a late spring meaning a delay in getting the seeds and plants into the ground.
“Hopefully the seasons won’t discourage them”, stated Michaud with a chuckle.
