Loch Lomond Villa is joining with several other groups and innovators to have projects at the Saint John complex to help those seniors living with Dementia.
CEO Cindy Donovan says several groups have come together to provide the funding.
“Along with the New Brunswick Health Research Foundation who has matched the amount by Baycrest in Ontario or CABHI which was $380,000, the innovators of the projects along with Loch Lomond Villa also match some of that funding for a total of $800,000,” stated Donovan.
The projects, which are a huge 3D-virtual reality screen, an interactive information board and even tablets for seniors apartment to keep them on a daily routine are all being done without any government funding and everyone is pretty happy about that.
“So what is really special is we now realize that New Brunswick is a living lab on its own in regards to the aging population, so we can do this, we don’t always need government funding and it’s about bringing the partners together and building those relationships, stated Donovan.
She said they are also very proud to be a part of these projects.
“Loch Lomond Villa is a huge long-term care that plays a huge role not only in our Saint John community but in New Brunswick, so to be a leader in research and innovation for our aging population is exactly why Loch Lomond Villa is involved,” stated Donovan.
