Those European grubs are back wreaking havoc on lawns and fields and that has prompted the Town of Quispamsis to take action.
A product called Acelepryn, which is a liquid in small amounts mixed with water, will be used on municipal properties such as lawns, parks and sports fields.
June is considered the best month to attack the grubs as they are starting to feed and are young enough to be affected by the product.
It only kills the grubs and has no effect on, birds, bees, other insects or mammals.
Many of the fields have had severe damage over the past year according to the town’s director of community services.
“Grubs need to be eradicated or their life cycle will go on forever,” stated Dana Purton Dickson.
The fields to be treated include Meenan’s Cove, Walter Jewett Memorial, Centennial, Saunders and James Rolfe and the grassy areas near the qplex, Town Hall and Arts and Culture Park.
There will be signs up telling you to stay off the area for at least 24 hours after the spraying.
