There will be more virtual reality technology used at three seniors complexes in the province.
York Care Centre in Fredericton, Rocmaura Nursing Home In Saint John and Woodstock’s Carleton Manner are participating in a new three-year pilot project.
Any seniors who want to participate and are eligible will be able to do so if they live within 50 kilometres of Fredericton.
Social Development Minister Dorothy Shephard stated.
“Keeping seniors healthy for as long as possible is incredibly important to our government.”
“This project will help seniors who are at home or living in one of our long-term-care homes to improve their physical function and maintain their quality of life, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have, stated Shephard.
The virtual reality will be used as part of occupational and physiotherapy in hopes of getting seniors to have rehabilitation and exercise in a fun way.
The federal and provincial governments already announced the funding as part of their 2018 budgets.
