Witness testimony in a wrongful dismissal case from the vice-president of Brunswick News has been postponed for unspecified medical reasons.
Moncton Court of Queen’s Bench Justice Denise LeBlanc told lawyers present via conference call Thursday that an affidavit, dated July 3, from Dr. Bruce Campbell stated Jamie Irving should rest extensively for the next four weeks before being re-evaluated.
Al Hogan, a former managing editor for the Moncton Times & Transcript, is suing Brunswick News after he was terminated by the paper following its investigation into a 2013 trip taken by then-assistant managing editor, Murray Guy, to government-owned Larry’s Gulch Lodge.
Brunswick News contends Hogan was let go for misleading the paper about the details surrounding the trip.
Hogan is being represented by lawyer Scott Ellsworth.
During Ellsworth’s cross-examination of former Brunswick News editor Patrick Brethour last week, Brethour stated Hogan deleted key parts of an email in an attempt to mislead him about the trip.
At the conclusion of proceedings Thursday, it was agreed testimony for Jamie Irving be set over to July 16 with closing arguments expected for the following day.
