Common Council is holding a special meeting tonight to debate discuss and debate the report from the provincial working group called Sustaining Saint John.
The city was given a 22 million dollar bailout by the previous Liberal government which runs out in 2021.
Councillor Reardon is expecting open, frank and good discussions from tonight’s meeting.
“I think everyone has read through that report multiple times, our original report the one that we sent then received back from the province so there really should be some good discussions tonight and hoping that citizens will have a pretty clear idea of what’s in the package,” stated Reardon.
Councillor Reardon says making the boundaries of the city smaller is an option and increasing populations in some parts of the city would help.
“We know that density is the cheapest way to provide services and that is why we have the neighbourhood action plan, we are trying to drive some density into the peninsula,” stated Reardon.
