The Tourism Industry Association of New Brunswick has recently named a new Chair of the Board of Directors.
Ginette Doiron was voted in on June 19th and assumed her responsibilities as of July 1st.
This is her 4th year with the association and she previously worked at the Olivier soapery, an attraction in itself.
She hopes to see a better marketing strategy for the province’s tourism marketing.
“And I would like to see everyone work together, it would be nice if we could all grow together in one voice and be more powerful to promote New Brunswick because it is a nice province and I would like New Brunswick to be the go-to destination when people book their vacation,” she says.
Doiron says she also hopes to see more support from the government.
She will be working closely with their CEO and meeting with the government to try and work around the cuts so the industry suffers as little loss as possible.
“No cut is good news, especially when it comes to our guide that is very popular and some of the information centres that are close to our attractions,” says Doiron.
She says the industry feels it wasn’t consulted when those cuts were made wants to insure the tourism industry continues to grow despite them.
“The other file TIANB will be working on is the work shortages. We’re working on helping local businesses and looking at what we can do with the government,” she says.
Doiron says she is very passionate about tourism and that her goal is to make the province a number one destination.
