The next phase of the 5th Canadian Division Support Group’s annual vegetation management program is set to begin.
The aerial and ground application of herbicides will start tomorrow and run until August 31st.
Operations will only be conducted when weather is permitting and within the confines of CFB Gagetown.
The defense base says herbicides won’t be sprayed every single day during this stretch—only when conditions are suitable and only for as many days as it takes to treat its targeted areas.
The vegetation management program involves controlled burning, manual and mechanical cutting, herbicide application and re-vegetation.
The base says this integrated approach has proven to be an efficient way to achieve land management objectives, which ensure the sustainability of natural resources while meeting current operational and training needs.
