Saint John’s mayor and finance committee chair are holding “Budgets and Beers” events to make people aware about the financial situation the city is in.
Mayor Don Darling says the first of the events is already full and they are halfway to filling another and that is a good sign people want to be part of the solution.
“Creative way to gets folks out and engaged and understanding our numbers, so they are informed, educated if you will and just a little bit of a fun spin to do a budgets and beers event,” stated Mayor Darling
Mayor Darling says there is a lot of bad information being spread around.
“There is frankly a lot of misinformation out there about this city, I mean this city is a 200 million dollar corporation with 2.7 billion dollars in assets, I would argue frankly there is no comparison in the greater region, but yet we are compared every day,” stated his Worship.
The second session takes place at the BMO Studio Theatre on July 23 and you must register to attend.
