Get ready for some fun under the moonlight, both real and artificial on Saturday night.
It is time once again for the annual Moonlight Bazaar and co-organizer Derek Riedle of Civilized says it has grown over the years with the first one only expected to draw 400 people and they were quite surprised.
“It was one thousand people, last year we expected six thousand and we got eight, so this year we think we’ve got the expectations right we expect about ten thousand people on Saturday night for the third annual Moonlight Bazaar,” stated Riedle.
There will be a giant inflatable moon once again and this time the real moon will be full and Saturday marks the 50th anniversary of the lunar landing by the Apollo 11 mission which will make it even extra special.
Riedle says it has become quite the social media event.

“The people of Saint John, the pop up displays the oddities that go on that are unannounced that you have got to be there to see it makes it one of those things that people just don’t want to miss, and we just want to keep delivering on that.”
He says they are preparing to expand the footprint of the event as well.
” We know that any time you put ten thousand people on the streets of Saint John it can get tight so we’re opening it up a little bit wider so even more people can come out and feel comfortable,” stated Riedle.
There is also going to be a legacy regarding the event after this year with world-renowned Montreal Mural Artist Dodo Ose in the city to do a mural at the corner of Canterbury and Princess Streets.
The Moonlight Bazaar gets underway on Saturday at 7 PM and ends 1 AM Sunday.
