Around 300 Girl Guides and Scouts from around the world will head to the Netherlands this week as part of the Marsna Jamborette.
It is a co-ed camping event for that allows them to get acquainted with different cultures with activities including hiking, sporting tournaments, campfires and games.
There are two troops of Canadians going on the trip: 12 girls who are between the ages of 14 and 15, and another 12 between 16 and 18 years old.
Quinn Mersereau, 14, is with the 1st Salisbury Pathfinders. She flies out on Friday, landing first in Toronto where she will meet others taking the trip. From there she will head to the Netherlands, “I feel pretty lucky that I have these opportunities. I’ll learn more about the world and find out how different it is in different places.”
They’ll be tenting in the Netherlands for 10 days, where Mersereau says they’ll take part in many activities including learning how to construct their own table and benches to eat at.
The 2019 Marsna Jamborette will be held from July 29th to August 9th.
