Wayne Long will once again be the Liberal candidate for the riding of Saint John-Rothesay.
The MP confirmed his nomination prior to a news conference in Saint John Friday morning.
“My nomination was actually [Thursday] night, I received official confirmation that I was the Liberal candidate,” stated Long.
Long had voted against the Trudeau government on a few occasions and has been vocal about issues that affect his riding despite the party stance on them.
“For several months there has been lots of speculation and lots of concern. It was never in doubt, it was never in question,” he said of the nomination.
“There was a process that needed to be followed, I followed the process and good things come to those who wait.”
The next federal election is slated to take place in October.
