A data breach at Capital One Bank has affected six million Canadian customers, and 100 million in the United States.
The hacker got access to personal information, credit card information and credit scores, according to the bank.
For Canadians, approximately one million Social Insurance Numbers were compromised. Affected individuals have been notified.
The FBI has found and arrested the person responsible for the incident. The bank says vulnerabilities in its system have been fixed, and an investigation is still ongoing.
It also says it’s unlikely that the information access was used for any type of fraud or disseminated by the individual. Customers can remain updated on the situation online.
