Saint John Police say they nabbed some thieves red-handed after reports of stolen property in Rockwood Park.
Police responded to the park around 4 p.m. on Monday and found wires missing from solar light poles, and they expected the culprits would return for the large batteries.
They staked out the park on Tuesday morning where, at 3 a.m., they found a car on Hawthorne Avenue Extension.
Officers noticed the vehicle loaded down with batteries and a short time later two men, aged 23 and 24 came back to the vehicle and were arrested.
They are facing charges in connection with the incident, including possession of stolen property.
