The Nova Scotia Serious Incident Response Team, along with Halifax police, are investigating a shooting death in Moncton.
RCMP Staff Sgt. Andre Pepin says officers were called to Somerset Street, near Elmwood Drive, on Saturday afternoon.
He says a man showed a weapon and appeared to be threatening officers.
Police first discharged a taser, but Pepin says the man continued to threaten the police.
As a result, one officer fired his gun at the suspect.
CPR was performed, but a 24-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Pepin says it is standard practice to have an outside agency investigate police actions.
