Enbridge Gas has submitted an application to the New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board in hopes to lower the cost of natural gas for customers.
The application asks fir adjustments to the distribution rates and charges for all customers by January 1, 2020 and a forecasted decrease in the Enbridge Utility Gas supply cost in 2020.
The proposed changes may result in reductions of 12 to 16 per cent for commercial customers, and 7 per cent for residential customers.
For residential customers, that could look like almost $150 dollars in savings annually for heat and hot water bills.
The actual impact on customers’ total annual costs will depend on how much natural gas is consumed and what the price of natural gas supply will be in 2020.
Residential customers can still expect to see savings compared to electricity – an estimated 16 per cent savings and even more if the cost of natural gas supply is lower than forecasted.
Commercial customers can expect to see 24 to 42 per cent on No. 2 oil and 25 to 35 per cent on electricity.
