It’s going to be a great weekend of activities in the Village of Gagetown as it holds the High and Dry Festival.
It will feature a number of activities for young and old and even have historical and educational components.
It starts Friday night with a boat flotilla in Gagetown Creek where prizes will be awarded for the best lighting and decorating and most enthusiastic boat, as well as a Labatt Beer tent for afterwards.
Paul Mennier is the President of Gagetown and area Chamber of Commerce and says one of the highlights for Saturday is called a Flood Expo which will take place a Lang House B and B. Flood mitigation construction experts will be on hand for that.
“The owners of Lang House Bed and Breakfast are hosting a number of experts from 10 AM until 1 PM Saturday, Bruce and Marion Langhus had a devastating flood in 2018, they installed a water in-water out system and that greatly reduced their costs this year when they were flooded again,” stated Mennier.
There will be History Walks as well where people can learn about the rich history of Gagetown, home to Sir Leonard Tilley, one of the Father’s of Confederation.
“We’ll have a character from the past take people on a tour of some of the historic sites in the village including Tilley House where you will be able to have tea and strawberry shortcake,” stated Mennier.
Mennier says there will be something for kids and adults mostly on the Village Green.
There will be music, from noon until midnight with a Labatt Beer tent on hand a kids zone with bouncy castles, so parents can drop off their children aged 5 to 12 to play for a 2-hour maximum while they attend other attractions and a spectacular fireworks display will cap off the day. Admission to all events is free.
