Kindergarten and elementary school students have 12 days left in summer vacation.
Things are ramping up in Anglophone South school district with a meeting in Quispamsis on Wednesday for principals and vice-principals.
Superintendent Zoe Watson says it’s a chance to speak about the priorities of the district and Department of Education for the school year.
“We had our first meeting of all principals and vice-principals in the district. That would be 70 principals from Grand Manan to Sussex and about 65 principals and our staff.” Watson said.
Watson says the meeting included an opening by two First Nations elders, Jim and Donna Augustine.
“The Augustines were here in the district for a professional development activity with 25 teachers. They started their day with us and addressed the principals. Had a prayer and a song and spoke to us so, that was very special. ” Watson said.
Meeting continue on Thursday at the district education centres in Hampton, Saint John and St. Stephen.
The new school year begins on September 3rd.
