As the Blaine Higgs government continues to push Bill 39, a law that would make vaccinations mandatory for school children in the province, the federal health minister weighed in with her opinions on Thursday.
MP Ginette Petitpas-Taylor encourages all Canadians to discuss this matter with their health care professionals, “Go see the people that work in the field and that know the effectiveness of vaccines. We certainly hope people are going to get their children vaccinated.”
Petitpas-Taylor says she knows there are a lot of people who are vaccine-hesitant, but she just wants to ensure that they are all getting the proper information.
“I am very comfortable and confident that when people receive the proper information from health care professionals that work in the field, people are going to make the right decisions and get the children vaccinated. We certainly recognize that the best public health tool we have at our disposal is vaccinations and vaccines.”
Public hearings were held this week in Fredericton on proposed legislation which would make vaccinations mandatory for all children attending public schools or daycares in New Brunswick.
