The Beaverbrook Art Gallery in Fredericton is going to soon start the third phase of its expansion with a new building to be called The Harrison McCain Pavillion.
In a release, it says like Lord Beaverbrook, Harrison McCain was both world-class businessman and a passionate New Brunswicker. This new wing is a fitting tribute for McCain’s profound impact on Canadian business.
It was 60 years ago on September 15th that the museum was offered as a gift to the people of New Brunswick by Lord Beaverbrook.
The Gallery’s Chair of the Board of Governors, James C. Irving, said “We are excited to embark on the next phase of our institution’s life. The $6 million Harrison McCain pavilion will honour McCain’s legacy.”
Construction will begin this fall and continue through 2020. Its collection ranks as one of the best in Canada, with a value of close to $1 billion.
