Construction of the Coles Island Bridges replacements will begin in the coming days.
Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Oliver says replacing the bridge is “critical” to ensuring the safety of Route 10.
Work will consist of preparing two detour bridges to take traffic off the existing bridges.
That work will be completed by 2020, with the construction of the new bridges taking up to three years to complete.
The total cost of the project is estimated at $45 million, with half coming from the federal government, and half from the province.
